Mrs. Ellen Jane Flowers

Ellen Jane Haire born December 8, 1936 to Jeff and Callie Haire in Muskegon, Michigan. Her mother died when she was only three years old. Ellen’s dad, Jeff, worked for the Teamsters in the plant. Ellen graduated with honors at Northern High School in Detroit, Michigan. Her father married Eleanor Haire, and they had two sons, Elmore and Wayne Haire. Ellen met Robert Flowers, and then moved to Saginaw, Michigan where they were married and had five children, Robert, Jeff, Kim, Ellery, and Russell. She and Robert eventually separated leaving Ellen raised her five children on her own. It was hard, but she did it. Later Ellen and her children moved to Detroit in the 1960 for a while, but then later moved back to Saginaw where Ellen graduated from nursing school. She started working for Dr. John Carter. Ellen went on to work for decades in Michigan before moving to Tampa, Florida in 2004. While in Tampa, her grandchildren, who loved her so much, would later follow her to Florida. She worked at one nursing home for ten years in Tampa until retiring at 80 years old. Ellen didn't want to retire, however her family ask her to and she finally agreed it was time. She then moved to Montgomery, Alabama in 2021 and have been there ever since. Ellen was called home March 25, 2025, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Ms. Ellen Jane Flowers leave to cherish her memories: children, Robert Flowers, Jeffrey E. Flowers, Kimberly L. (George P.) White, Ellery Flowers, Russell T. (Marija) Flowers and Torrye (Kathy) Loveless; brother, Elmore “Punchie” Haire; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Latoya) Williams, James (Kimberly) Flowers, Jeremy Williams, George White Jr., Robert (Fredricka) Flowers, Alexis (Ryan) Knight, Anjaile Goodwine, Ron'Neisha (Aaron) Flowers, Michael Allen, Jillian Flowers, Noah Flowers and Luka Flowers; great-grandchildren, Liam, Bentley, Avah, James Flowers Jr., Jarvius Collins, JaNiya Williams, Jeffrey Williams Jr., Jaylen Williams, Tiffany White, Kimberly White, Jaleya Williams and Zariah Williams; family and friends, Joy Flowers, Francine Williams, Deanne Goodwine, Valerie Flowers, Deidre Mitchell, Renee Benning and Carmen White, the Haire Family, James, Nikki, April, Tamika, Charmella, Ronda Banks, Dorothy Haire, Eva Haire, James Betts, Demetrius Glover, Trena (Wayne) King, Tyrone, and Beverly, the Moten Family, the Texas family, the Goodwine family, the Haire family, the Louisiana family, the Flowers family; a host of other family and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Haire; sisters, Mary Ann Barrett and Robbie Overstreet; and great-grandchild, Adrian Flowers. Visitation will take place 10:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601
