Mrs. Ernestine "Granny" Lewis

Ernestine was born October 15, 1938 in Utica, Mississippi to Rev. Collins and Carrie Edna (Summers) Frazier. Ernestine answered the Lord’s call on May 19, 2022 at the age of 83 years. She was baptized in 1951 and she arrived in Saginaw, Michigan in 1960 and she united with TrueVine Missionary Baptist Church in 1970 under the leadership of Pastor Robert Corley. Ernestine completed her education in 1984 through Saginaw Adult Education. She was a beautician and a homecare worker. Mrs. Lewis enjoyed cooking, sewing, laughing, traveling and, an occasional trip to the casino. Mrs. Lewis leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters and three sons, Betty Frazier (Donnie), Richard (Penny) Lewis, Luther Lewis, Jr. and Maria Lewis, all of Saginaw, and Ricky (Melisa) Lewis, Bay City, MI; 13 grandchildren, Natasha Frazier, Stephon, Keiara, Shavon, Marcus Lewis, Kilynn Collins, Brittany, Misty and Brandi Ackerman, Nicholas Curtis, Alyssa Barnes and Al Lewis, Jr.; 20 great-grandchildren, Mattellione, Avantae, James, Jr., Zamiylah, Demarius, Andrell, DeShawn, Jr., Aaliyah, Aliyanna, Marley, Ellie, A’Miyah, Maurice, Tavario, Angel, Atlena, T’Angelo, William, Kaley and Arii; nine great-great-grandchildren, Aireyon, Amonie, Aniya, Aubree, Ace, Alayia, Blair, Caleb and Andre; four sisters, Alterine Frazier and Martha Sherman, both of Saginaw, Claudia Davis, New Orleans, LA and Annie Montgomery, Vicksburg, MS; brother, Charles Buckner, Cary, MS; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Benny Frazier; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Sarah Martin, Baltimore, MD and Ruthie Dell Curry, Plainfield, NJ. Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Lewis, Sr.; two sons, Darnell Frazier and Albert Lewis, Sr.; grandson, Andrell Johnson; granddaughter, Angela Lewis; parents, Rev. Collins and Edna Summer Frazier; nine brothers and two sisters. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Broaddus and the Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home, David Williams, Carla Johnson, Melisa Garcia and Deanna Prather. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2022, at Truevine Baptist Church, 2930 Janes Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Paul E. Broaddus, officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until time of service.
