Mother Fannie R. Carter

Fannie Rose Young was born on January 13, 1931 in Oakman, Alabama, to the late Benjamin and Angelo Young. Fannie was educated in the county school system through twelfth grade. Moving to Detroit in the 1950’s to be with family, she attended Bee-Dew Beauty School completing requirements and becoming a licensed cosmetologist. Fannie was courted by a young man that was to become her husband in a wonderful marriage that lasted over 61 years. While attending a camp meeting Fannie was both saved and healed. She and her husband Provis started a journey that would sustain them down through the years. They attended bible college together in Detroit and in Indiana as well receiving their certifications. They moved to Saginaw in the early 1960’s continuing their faith walk at Beatty Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. and then moved to Emmanuel Church of Deliverance where they served together faithfully for 48 years through good health and challenges. Pastor Carter never missed a day spending time with his loving wife. Throughout her life Mother Carter always sought to help those that were troubled and in need of someone to show them kindness. She started the Emmanuel Church of Deliverance Outreach Center feeding the hungry, providing clothes, coats and shoes. News of this work was brought to the attention of donors who sent unsolicited checks to support her work. Mother Carter spent countless hours working with children which was a ministry that was dear to her heart. She was always writing messages and teaching points to share with the church, even before bible journaling was the thing to do. Mother Carter lived her life like a true virtuous woman, always leaning and putting that knowledge into practice building up the kingdom of God and helping her fellow humans. Mother Carter is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 plus years, Elder Provis Carter; daughter, Lillia Pugh; son, Darryl Robbins; godson, Michael Griffrin; grandson, D. Xavier Robbins granddaughters, Karlessa Morton, Sharmonica Pugh and Ceaira R.L. Robbins; great-grandson, Darrion Morales; sisters-in-law, Lue Willie Harden and Faye Carter; special nieces, Regina Brown and Mary Ann Powell; a host of cherished god-children, grandchildren, great-grand children, many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Angelo Young; sisters, Willie Mae Peadon ( Joe), Rilla Broomfield, (Oliver), and Pearlie Bowles (William); brothers, Hosea (Annie Mae), Byron (Rosielee), Fred (Martha) and Salomon. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Emmanuel Church of Deliverance, 1709 Janes Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Elder Provis Carter, Host Pastor and Dr. Prince Miles will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Family hour will take place at 7:00 p.m.
