Ms. Geraldine "Gerry" Phillips

Ms. Geraldine “Gerry” Phillips was born to the proud parents of Madison George and Lurline (Mack) Phillips in Saginaw, Michigan on December 26, 1947. She passed away on July 8, 2023 at the age of 75 years. Geraldine was a lifelong member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Roy L. Manning, where she was a member of the Seniors Ministry and the Mass Choir. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1966. She loved to play softball and was a pitcher for the Banditos, where she was instrumental in leading them to State and City Championships. Gerry, as she was affectionately known, was full of life, with a spirited and energetic soul, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She remembered everyone’s birthday and anniversaries. She loved to play the lottery and her Wii games. She was a great cook and made the best fried chicken, banana pudding and peach cobbler. She also loved to travel with her family, most recently to Tennessee for her great-niece’s wedding. Her daughter, Felicia L. Phillips and grandson, Keenan J. Smith were the loves of her life. She leaves to cherish so many memories, her beloved daughter, Felicia L. Phillips; faithful loving grandson, Keenan J. Smith; devoted sisters, Dr. Gwendolyn Phillips (William) Valentine and Janet Faye Phillips; niece, Ivy Valentine (Cecil) Pate; nephew, William (Melissa) Valentine, Jr.; great-nieces and nephews, Billy Madison Valentine, Shakeila Loomis, Veronica Gilmore, Will Valentine, Lillian Mathews, Cecil Pate, Jr. and David Valentine; great-great-nephew, Lucas Drain; cherished friends, Joyce Brown, and Dennis (Gail) Porter and a host of cousins and friends too numerous to name. Ms. Geraldine Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Madison G. and Lurline Phillips; a sister, Joycelyn Phillips-Stanley; grandparents, Edward and Levonia Mack, Ira and Charlotte Phillips. The Phillips, Valentine and Smith families would like to express heartfelt thanks for all the prayers, thoughts and phone calls. May God bless you and be with you always. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Pastor Roy Manning will officiate. Interment will take place in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 Holland., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
