Mr. Gregory Clay Rutherford

Mr. Gregory Rutherford was born September 10, 1972 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Mr. George Clay Rutherford, Sr. and Mrs. Geneva (Chris) Matthews-Rutherford. He passed away on July 31 2024 at the age of 51 years. Greg was born and raised by his parents and a village of relatives in Saginaw, Michigan where he attended Saginaw Public Schools. He was blessed with a son, Gregory II. He met his soulmate, “The love of his life” in 2001, marrying Mrs. Donn Price-Rutherford on July 28, 2006. To this unity a daughter, Ganiyah was born. He worked at Duro-Last Roofing for 15 years until 2014. Looking for a better opportunity he moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he was employed for BF Goodrich for six years until he was called home. Greg was a very happy young man who was excited about life. He had a unique way of meeting no strangers. If he’d smiled and/or grinned at you, something about his energy made you smile and/or grin back. He enjoyed music, traveling, sports and home movies . Most of all he enjoyed FAMILY and FRIENDS: this meant the world to him along with family gatherings. Greg and his brother, George, Jr. were like twins. Certain family members referred to them as the Kluck Boys”. They were given this name by their Uncle Onious “Pony” Matthews. Greg was Big Man”, and George was “Kluck-A-Luck”. They were very close. MOST OF ALL THEY WERE THEIR “BROTHERS KEEPER”. Greg “Big Man” leaves to cherish many memories his loving wife, Donn Price-Rutherford; children, Gregory Ruthford II, Donqurius Mitchell and Menedez Price all of Saginaw, Ganiyah Ruthford, Depree Blackmon and Dontrel Price all of Fort Wayne, IN and Rashard Price, Charleston, SC; grandchildren,; Gregory Rutherford III, G’Oni and Alailah Rutherford , Dakota Smith and Kobe Smith all of Saginaw, Ariel Blackmon, Andre Smith, Adonis Price and Amiya Cannon of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, George (Tracy) Rutherford, Jr., Saginaw; nieces, Keyira, Shanece, Tramece, Sha’bria, Bre’Aonica Rutherford and Owantoria Wesley of Saginaw; nephew, George Rutherford III, Saginaw; aunts and uncles, Irene Batts, Onious (Ada) Matthews, Bernice Brook, Velvia Monroe, Felvia Holmes, Joe Kelley, Eugene (Glenda) Kelly, Maurice (Janice) Kelly, Bobby (Rose) Kelly, Zebedee (Tammy) Kelly, Allen Kelly and Irean Parker; father-in-law, Robert Laster; sisters-in-law, April Price, Martha (Cleveland, Sr.) Ducre and Shawn Hawkins-Price; brothers-in-law, Robert (Evon) Laster, Jr., Robert (Sara) Parham, Cameron Price and Kevin (Valerie) Tolliver; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws other relatives and friends including special relatives and special friends, niece, Keyira Rutherford, Auntie Velvia (Pickey) Monroe, cousin, George Lay, two cousins/sisters, Lolita “Lo” Robinson and Connie Matthews, friend, Hewy Rattcliff, Eric Smith, Lillie Johnson, Eric Sanders, Dion Dillard, Shawn Scott, Ron Walker, Richard Arnold, Angie Harry, Delvin and Elliot Harris. Mr. Gregory Rutherford, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Geneva Rutherford; his grandparents; mother-in-law, Ida Jean Price; one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law; two special cousins, Malcolm “Mac” Brooks, Joseph “Wayne” Lay and special friend, Tony Parks. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Minister Wesley Willis will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave. Visitation will take place on Thursday at the funeral home from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
