Mrs. Hattie Mary Doxie

Mrs. Hattie Mary Doxie, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, left her earthly vessel on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the blessed age of 97 years. She was born February 28, 1927 in Aliceville, Alabama the daughter of R.C. and Pearlener (Lanier) Sanders. They both preceded her in death. In 1951 she and her husband, Eddie Harris moved their family to Saginaw, Michigan in hope of acquiring employment with General Motors. Mr. Harris passed away. On October 5, 1985, she became the bride of Mr. Joseph Doxie. He preceded her in death in October 2005. She was a faithful, loyal and dedicated member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Otis Washington. She was an active member of the Mothers’ Ministry until her health failed; yet she praised and thanked God for the life He had given her. You knew of her love because she told everyone to: “Always do right and right will follow You!”, “Love your family!” and “Don’t forget to watch your weight!” She was employed at Jacobsons Department Store, Vlasic Pickle Company, and lastly, Saginaw Steering Gear, General Motors and also a member of UAW Local 699. In her leisure time, she was busy with arts and crafts, ceramics, canning, gardening, sewing and was very talented crocheting, making clothes, quilts, and other items. Mother Doxie’s memory will be cherished by her loving children, Hattie Govan and Linda Brown both of Saginaw; son-in-law, Clarence Brown, Sr., Kansas City, MO; Anita Harris-Holley, Chicago, IL, Rosie Taylor, Saginaw, Louis “Charles” Doxie, John D. (Linda) Doxie, Ann Tolbert all of Lima, OH, Kathy Doxie, Goodyear, AZ; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sarah Johnson and Geraldine Doxie both of Saginaw; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including a cousin like a sister, Lois Burrell; like daughters, Naomi Neal and Ann Arceneaux; friends, the Burney family, Ann McMillan, Evelyn Roby and Juanita Drake. She is now reunited with husband, Joseph Doxie; son, William “Bro” Harris; daughters, Eddie “May” (Donald) Martin and Edwina Hester; brothers, Junior Sanders and Robert Lavender; sisters, Dolly (Phoenix) Counts and Jean (Dwayne) Hutch; best friend/sister-in-law, Nancy (Emmitt) Doxie plus many other loved ones. The family wishes to thank all doctors for the care rendered to Mother Doxie. We also extend special thanks to Corey DeLong, Brenda Hereza, Ebony Randolph; nieces, Alicia Doxie, JoeAnn Jackson and her neighbors, Carla Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Addison. Family hour will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Rd, Saginaw, MI 48601, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Otis Washington, officiating. Entombment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 950 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will be 9:00 AM until the time of service.
