Mr. Hosey Lee Campbell

On April 2, 1934 Hosey Lee Campbell was born to Mr. Hosey Lee Campbell, Sr. and Mrs. Josephine Campbell in Cornerstone, Alabama. On December 7, 2019 at the age of 85 years, Mr. Hosey Lee Campbell went home to be with the Lord. Hosey relocated to Saginaw, Michigan where he married Dorothy Foster of Union Springs, AL. From the lifelong union they have three daughters. Hosey was employed by General Motors Grey Iron Plant as a laborer and a member of the Local UAW #455. After retiring he became an entrepreneur in which he successfully owned several businesses throughout Saginaw and Genesee County. He was most well known for his produce business and fruit trucks where he earned the nickname “Watermelon Man”. Outside of the businesses Hosey stayed busy with many hobbies. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and walker. In his spare time, he loved to play dominos, checkers and card games. He was a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years joining under the leadership of Pastor Robert Corley, Sr., transitioning to serving under the leadership of Pastor Paul Broaddus and First Lady Gloria Broaddus. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Dorothy Campbell; three daughters, Sandra Campbell of Saginaw, MI, Gail (Jeffrey) Ervin of Cincinnati, OH and Jackie (Kernef) Jackson of Saginaw, MI; four grandsons, Quincy (Mercedes) Drake of Dayton, OH, Jessie Campbell of Cincinnati, OH, Randal (Rose) Calloway, Sr. of Genesee Township, MI and Darnell Jackson of Saginaw, MI; three granddaughters, Shayla Campbell and Shatory (Brandon) Carr, both of Dallas, TX and Kharrington Jackson of Saginaw, MI; sixteen great-grandchildren; a special cousin, “Tot”; a special friend James “Jim” Colvin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Hosey was preceded in death by his parents, Hosey Lee Campbell, Sr. and Josephine Campbell; two sisters, Idella Fort and Idelphine Youngblood; one brother, William (Jack) Campbell. The family of Hosey Campbell wishes to express a special than you to Covenant Cooper Hospital Select Care staff and ICU. A very special heart filled thank you to his nurse, Brooke McKeon. Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at TrueVine Missionary Baptist Church, 2930 Janes St., Saginaw, MI 48601, Pastor Paul E. Broaddus, Host Pastor and Pastor John Rincher, Eulogist. Visitation Saturday from 11:00 am until time of service.
