Mr. James Robert Moore

Mr. James R. Moore was born on February 14, 1927 in Elba, Alabama to Emory Moore, Sr. and Zellia (Forsythe) Moore. He departed this life on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the age of 90 years. James was educated in the Coffee County School system in Alabama. In 1946, he relocated to Saginaw, Michigan to pursue employment opportunities at General Motors Corporation. He worked for 41 years at Grey Iron Foundry and Nodular Iron before retiring in 1987 as a supervisor. James was a former member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church for several years where he served as an usher. He later joined Zion Valley Baptist Church where he attended until his health failed. James was an avid Michigan State fan and enjoyed watching football, baseball and MSNBC. He was passionate about keeping informed of local and world news. He also enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his “hot peppers” that he grew each year. James was loved and respected by all that knew him, he was a kind, caring and friendly person who was willing to help others in need. Mr. Moore leaves to cherish his memory one son, Louis (Shelia) Mares of Denver Metro Area; two grandchildren, Tanisha (James) Seader and Devin Mares both of Denver Metro Area; two great-grandchildren, Preston Seader and Annabelle Mares of Denver Metro Area; one sister, Margrette (Dean) Willis of Decatur, GA; two sisters-in-law, Louise Moore of Atlanta, GA and Eloise Moore of Tuskegee, AL; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Douglas and Linda Lane, and Corrine Williams. James was preceded in death by his parents, Emory, Sr. and Zellie Moore and 12 siblings. The family extends special thanks to his caregivers, Larkin West and Velma Roach and “Thank You” to his neighbor, Angela Brooks. Funeral service will take place on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Valley Baptist Church, 517 Carlisle Street. Pastor John Rincher will officiate interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery 3210 S. Washington Ave. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
