Mr. James Sheppard, Jr.

Mr. James Sheppard, Jr. passed away April 4, 2023 at the age of 89 years Medi lodge of Midland, Michigan. Mr. Sheppard was born December 13, 1934 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the son of Ruby Shepard-Nowell and James Shepard, Sr. Mr. Sheppard relocated to Saginaw, MI where he met and married his queen, Vivian Shepard. Mr. Sheppard obtained employment at General Motors Corporation working faithfully for 35 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Spiritual Israel Church. He loved to cook on Sundays for the church. Mr. Sheppard love to listen to him some BB King and Johnnie Taylor. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and westerns. He leaves to cherish many memories his children, Ronald, Terrell, Sherrell, James III, Connie and Michael (Yulonra) Shepard, all of Saginaw, MI, Michelle Alexander, Tampa, FL, Cassandra King of Bessemer, AL and Vanessa Jackson of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Andre (Angie), Victoria, Deontray (Antoinette), Dameyon, Catera, Michael, Jr., Terrell, Jr., Terrance, Shaneitha, Tanoris (Jantzen), Danae, Ivory, Mathew and Maddie Shepard, Cassandra Young (Richard), Calis Tate (Ebony), Reginald Johnson, Duane Jackson, Sharina Robinson, Duwanna Jackson and Dannaw Powell; great-grandchildren, DeAndre, DreVontae, Drevon, and Shaniya Shepard, McKenzie Welch, A’Miracle, Richard III and Delilah Lee, Deontrana, Khaleesia, Delonzo, A’Neekah and Zhameyah Shepard, Courtney Johnson, Ciane and Duane Jackson III, Zaria Calhoun, Derrisha House, Sharah Meyers, Jr., Sy’Air Meyers, Jayden Johnson, Jordan Davis, Kaiden Shepard and many more; sister, Freddie M. Nowell; god-daughter, Faye Mueller; a host of nieces including Kim and Rita Swan, nephews including, Greg, Jeff and Milton Swan; a host of cousins including Willie Smith, Billy Anthony Moore, Joe Grace, Minnie Gandy, Elizabeth Parker, Deshawn Grace, other relatives and friends. Mr. Shepard was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Shepard; granddaughter, Adrian Weems; parents, mother, Ruby Shepard-Nowell; fathers, James Shepard, Sr. and Clarence Nowell; uncle, John Shepard. The family would like to give a special thanks to Medi lodge of Midland and Tawas, a special thanks to ProMedica Hospice. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Spiritual Israel Church, 120 S. 5th Ave, Saginaw, MI 48607. Elder Joseph Grace will officiate. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Evans & Browne's.
