Mr. Jesse Guerrero

Jesse Guerrero was born in October 11, 1923 in Valentine, Texas to Gregorio and Delores (Ramos) Guerrero. He passed away on January 25, 2020 at the age of 96 years. The family moved to Austin, Texas in 1929. He worked at a grocery store as a teen. Jesse left Texas in 1948 moving to Saginaw, Michigan. He worked at Malleable Iron Plant for General Motors briefly and then was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1949-1950. He worked at Buick Motor Div. for two and a half years, then Fisher Body Plant, Flint, MI for three years. He worked a tailor, field worker, laborer and later rejoined General Motors until his retirement. He played the drums in various bands and composed music that he played on guitar. He liked airplanes, enjoyed doing photography, sketching, reading books about history and reading the bible. Mr. Guerrero became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the 60’s. He leaves to cherish many memories, his children, Jesse Guerrero, Jr., and Sophia Gonzales (Gilbert) both of Saginaw, MI and Phillip Guerrero (Tamara), Petoskey, MI; a stepdaughter, Lydia Verrett (Duane), Owasso, OK; grandchildren, Jessica M. Guerrero, Okemos, MI, Juanita Guerrero, Leah D., Robert J. and Lynette D. Bond, all of Saginaw, MI, Alec, Phillip and Phylicia Guerrero all of Petoskey, MI, Juanita N. Villasana and Duane E Verrett, Jr. both of Owasso, OK, Jared M. Verrett, Broken Arrow, OK, Erika A. Molinar, Edwards, CA and Veronica A. Hightower, Sperry, OK, and many others; great-grandchildren, Brody Guerrero-Mills, Okemos, MI and Alex Hernandez, Jr., Saginaw, MI and many others, and a host of other relatives and friends. His kind and generous spirit will be missed by all. Mr. Guerrero was preceded in death by his father, Gregorio Garcia Guerrero; mother, Delores (Ramos) Guerrero; sister, Genaviva Guerrero; brothers, Roberto Guerrero and Salvador Guerrero; sisters, Angelina and Ana Maria Guerrero. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Manohar Atri for his considerate care, nursing staff at Saginaw Senior Care and the nursing staff at Covenant HealthCare. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Alton Wicker will officiate.
