Ms. Joann Davis-Plowden

Ms. Joann Davis-Plowden was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 70 years. She was born to the late Mary (Hicks) and James “Jim” Davis on February 17, 1947 in Greenville, MS. Joann was educated in the St. Louis, MO public school system. In her early years she worked in the hospital as a nurse’s aide and in the production industry. Joann loved helping others and her last job was working for Compassionate Care in Saginaw, MI. Joann loved to sing, cook and travel. Her favorite past-time was studying the word of God. Before the passing of her sisters, Cora, Clara and sister-in-law Linda, talking on the phone for hours with them brought her so much joy. She accepted Christ at an early age, and was later ordained as an evangelist in 2010. She was a member of Life and Christ Ministry under the direction of Pastor Dennis Cotton, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories, three children, Catherine (Joseph) Davis-Knowles, Timothy Lee Plowden and Anthony (Lola) Plowden, all of Saginaw, MI; step-daughter, Isha Bentley of California; two brothers, Willie (Brenda) Hardy and Leroy (Ann) of Baldwin, MS; grandchildren, Satarie Davis of Ypsilanti, MI, Catisha (Daniel) Reed, Eric Davis, Malik Davis, Timesha Brewer, Kennedy Plowden, Shenique (Joy) Franklin, LoMetria Sheffield, NiChel’le, Hulus, Yul and NiQuane Givan, all of Saginaw, MI; special niece, Cecelia “CeCe” Davis-Griffin; special nephew, Lawrence Griffin; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews other relatives and friends, including special friends, Marcell and Meshiee. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and James Davis; daughter, Deloris Ann Davis; sisters, Barbara Underwood, Clara Williams and Cora Mae Cox; brothers, J.C., Johnnie, Freddie and James Davis; grandmother, Irene Lewis; sisters-in-law, Linda Bowes and Rolene Boles; grandsons, Emmett Davis and Randy Franklin; and daughter-in-law, Temecko Brewer. The family would like to give thanks to her cousin, Johnny Mae Nix for all of the support she gave, A&D Waiver staff members, Donna and Rebecca, A&D Hospice, Grace Hospice, Covenant Rehabilitation, Helping Hands Nursing and Henry Ford of Detroit, MI. Thanks to everyone for the kind word, loving hugs and prayers that warmed our hearts. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Dennis Cotton, Sr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
