Mrs. Lois Jenella Scott-Kelley

Mrs. Lois Jenella Scott-Kelley a dedicated woman of God, strong in faith, and loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, with her whole heart. On Sunday, July 26, 2026, prepared herself for a night of peaceful rest and on the morning of Monday, July 27, 2026, she went home to paradise to be present with the Lord, at the age of 77 years. She was born on Monday, August 16, 1948, in Idlewild, MI. She was raised in Saginaw, MI by her parents, Elder Clarence and Alice Davis She dedicated her life to the Lord and was baptized at a young age. Her family were life-long members of Grant Street C.O.G.I.C., which later changed its name to Williams Memorial C.O.G.I.C., and is now, since 1995, named Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C. During her life-long church ministry, she sang soprano in the choir, she worked with the Sunshine Band, under director, Mother Clara Thomas; she was a License Missionary, she was a mother on the ‘Mother’s Board’, she was the Director of ‘The Sprit of Victory Book Store’, and she was a Sunday School Teacher, just to name a few of many assignments. She was a faithful servant of God, a prayer warrior and she was always at the church, day or night, doing the work of the Lord, whenever she was needed and for whatever she was needed for. She graduated from Saginaw High School, “Class of 1966”, then attended Prairie View A & M University Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University Lois worked for Wicks Corporation, EDS, and Dow Chemical and she happily retired May 18, 2018. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Amieae Saginaw, Zeta Omega Zeta Chapter. Lois was a loving mother who loved her children unconditionally, and she loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren who called her “Gee-Gee” and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. She enjoyed playing the card game ‘Spade’ and Domino’s with her family and friends. Lois enjoyed cooking and having meals and cookouts with her family and friends. Although she didn’t mind cooking, she didn’t mind going out to eat, exploring different dining experiences. She was a loyal friend. A true friend. A one-of-a-kind friend. She never met a stranger. She was a giver to those in need, even if she didn’t have it to give, with the Lord on her side, she always found a way, and because of that, He, the Lord, showered His Blessings upon her life. In 1967, Lois attended Prairie View A & M University in Perryton, TX, where she met her now husband, Norris Kelley, where they fell in love with each other and were inseparable. During the semester break Lois returned home to Saginaw, MI, for unknown reasons. As time went by, they both met someone else and got married, had children, and unfortunately, each of their spouses passed away. For decades they were widowers, until one day, as Norris sat in front of his computer, he noticed on the screen that it read, “Look up somebody you know!” So, he googled Lois’ maiden name, ‘Davis’, and found a land-line number. He called the phone number and left several messages for her (his name, phone number and why he was calling) and he requested her to return his calls. She shared this information with her best friend, Jessie Dawkins, and she told her, “Call him back and if you don’t know him, at least he will know that he has the wrong phone number and he won’t call you anymore.” So, she returned his call that very evening and within those few moments on the phone, remembering and reminiscing, life for them both had come full circle, as they united and rekindled their college year’s love for each other. In 2018, Norris and Lois became members of HOPE Church, Pearland, TX, where Thaddeus R. Eastland is Senior Pastor and his wife Desiree Eastland, Co- Pastor. She loved her church family, and her church family loved her the most. Lois was a ‘hands-on’ servant of the Lord and whatever needed to be done in the house of the Lord, she was willing to do, if it was the Lord’s will. As a member of HOPE Church, she served on the Altar Guild Ministry, The Women’s Empowerment Ministry, and The Pearls Ministry. Lois Scott-Kelley, a woman after God’s own heart, trusting and believing in His Word. A woman of faith. A woman of integrity. A woman of prayer, powerful and anointed. Genuine. Reliable. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. Scott (Keri), Sr., Carrollton, MI; grandchildren, Shawonda (Randy Sr.) Nance, Las Vegas, Jasmine Allen, Las Vegas, Juan Rodriquez, Jerome Scott, Jr., Alera Scott, Krishonna (Brandel) Price III, Cristina Bashans, Jaleil Warren, Karrisa Bashans, Kristopher Scott, Jr. and Krissmas Scott, all live in Saginaw, MI, 14 great-grandchildren, Randy Nance, Jr, Gavin Nance, Dallas Allen, Adriana Allen, MiAnjel Marlow, Angelo Price, Zaryah Price, Princeton Price, Kaprice Price, Kaiden Price, Bryson Bashans, Lorenzo Bashans, Glanna Bashans, Karter Morris; three stepdaughters, Norgenia Kelley, California, Joy Jones-Kelley, Houston, TX, Monica (Daniel) Bass, Houston, TX; seven step-grandchildren, Brittani Kelley, Meaghan Kelley-Gaynor, Khalil Balbed, Bryce Jones, Brianna Jones, Kelley Bass, and Jonathan Bass, all of Houston, TX; four step-great-grandchildren, Titan Jones, Tyler Jones, Summer Jones, and Mathias Villatoro, all of Houston, TX; three sisters, Doris Ann Hale, Lansing, MI, Carolyn Burrell, Reed City Nursing Home, Reed, MI, and Arnelda Clark, Baldwin, MI; 16 nieces; nine nephews; 14 great-nieces; 14 great-nephews; four sisters-in-law, H. Ann Jones, Lucinda Scott-Jones, Kristie L. Jones, and Brenda L. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Elder Clarence and Alice Davis; Brothers: Thomas Wyatt, James Burrell, Robert Burrell, and Paul Hawkins; her twin sister, Joyce Davis and sister Gloria Burrell; her first husband, L. Bernard Scott; son, Jerome B. Scott, Sr.; brothers-in-law: Raymond Jones, Rex Jones, Sr. and Bryan S. Scott; nephew, Rex A. Jones, II.; great-nephew: Christian J. McCants, and great-granddaughters; the Twins. father-in-law, Lorman S. Scott; mother-in-law, Bernice H. Scott; god-mother; Annie M. Evans; god-sister, Lois Dale and special friend, Mother Isabella S. Calhoun. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service commencing at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Christopher Pryor will officiate. Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 950 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
