Mr. Lonnie D. Scott

Mr. Lonnie Dwayne Scott was born September 7, 1946 in Longview, Texas the son of James and Mamie (Young) Scott. He passed away at Brookdale Senior Living at the age of 75 years. Lonnie graduated from Saginaw High School “Class of 1964”. He served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He was an active member of Mount Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he served as Sunday School Teacher and Finance Attendant. He was employed by Grey Iron Foundry GM Plant and was a member of UAW Local #668. He retired in 1997. Mr. Scott was a longtime employee of Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home and was well known as one of The Motorcycle Escorts ensuring safety for funeral processions. Lonnie belonged to the Christian Motorcycles Association. He liked riding his motorcycles on long trips to Texas or wherever the road would lead him. He would say, “I was born to ride”. He leaves to cherish many memories, his devoted and loving wife, Rosalind; three children, Curtessa Scott , Detroit, MI, Andre (Yvette Huff) Barstow, CA and Lonnie Williams, Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Andrelle Huff of California, Andre Huff, Jr., Tacoma, WA and Sterling Williams, Saginaw; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Scott, Saginaw and David (Belinda) Scott, Detroit; four sisters, Rowena Stigger (Charles), Bay City, MI, Alene Scott and Bernice Ruffin both of Saginaw and Tjuana Scott, Grand Blanc, MI; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Marselis, Seattle, Washington and Lois Wicker, Atlanta, GA; one brother-in-law, Ras (Linda) Marselis; special mom, Shelva J. Scott Veal, other relatives and friends. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mamie Scott; one sister, Debra Scott Fabin; a brother, Walter Scott; his grandparents, Walter and Eva Greenleaf. The family extends special thanks to the Brookdale staff and Careline staff. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
