Mrs. Mary Georgine Davis

Mrs. Mary Georgene Davis was born on January 14, 1949 in Madison, Wisconsin to Mary and Eugene Smith. She passed away on January 27, 2023 at St. Francis Nursing Home at the age of 74 years. Mary moved from Madison, Wisconsin to Saginaw, Michigan in 1986. She worked many different jobs throughout the years, including Customer Service and Sales. She retired in 1995. Mary was a faithful member of First Baptist Church-Bridgeport, MI and attended church every Sunday. She was dedicated working in the Church Daycare, attending Sunday School and many other church activities as well as in her community until she became home bound. Mary had a personality all of her own. She would tell you exactly how it was or wasn’t: what she liked and didn’t like. She had no problem speaking her mind. She loved to bake (she was known as the, “Cookie Lady” around her neighborhood because everyone loved her secret cookie recipe), go fishing, going out to eat, and spending time with family and friends. Her most enjoyable time was getting everyone who stopped, to play a game of dominos with her (even though we knew she was gonna cheat). Her grandsons and husband were her world. She welcomed everyone into her home and treated them like family, day one. Mrs. Davis leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of more than 30 years, Mr. Sammy Davis; her only daughter, Rayna (Everett) Smith-Harris, both of Saginaw, MI; one brother, Perry (Theresa) Smith of St. Paul, MN; one sister, Sheri (Ruben) Smith-Delgado of Las Vegas, NV; three grandsons, D’Arcy Smith of Saginaw, MI, DuJuan Thomas of Mt. Pleasant, MI and JacQuan (Carla) Thomas of El Paso, TX; one granddaughter, Journei Harris of Saginaw, MI; four great-grandchildren, Shnecia Smith of Bay City, MI, Jeremiah Castillo of Bridgeport, MI, Jelahnie Thomas of Grand Rapids, MI and Kyrah Thomas-Williams of El Paso, TX; special friends-sister-in-law, Georgia Pierce and Megan Mason, both of Saginaw, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Mary Georgene Davis was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Jackson, Jr.; one granddaughter, Duana Smith-Thomas; her parents, Mary and Eugene Smith; grandparents, Lula and Carl Elvord and one step-son, Sherman Cooper. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at St. Francis Nursing Home and Covenant VNA Hospice. Funeral service 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Duane Thomas will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
