Mr. Phil Jonathan Ray

Mr. Phil Ray passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at the age of 56. He was born March 5, 1959 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of James and Rhodan Ray. He attended Saginaw Public Schools and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 until 1986. Phil was very proud to have been a Marine. He loved dogs, helping others and scrapping. Phil would give his last dollar to a stranger if that person was in need. Mr. Phil Jonathan Ray leaves to cherish his memory: wife Yvonne Haynes-Ray; four daughters, LaTina (Antrovel) Smith, Mariah Ray-Moore, both of Saginaw, MI, Latrise Ray (Christopher Dyser) of Arlington, TX and Tia Lane of Lansing, MI; five sons, Phil (Shaun) Ray, Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI, Justin Walker of Salisbury, NC, James Ray, Devon Ray and Cameren Ray; two step-children, Lamar Zeigler and Nicole Richardson, all of Saginaw, MI; mother, Rhodan Ray; ten grandchildren; sisters, Roberta (Robert) Simmons of Austin, TX, Debra (Ralph Scott) Vaquera of San Antonio, TX, Clara (Joseph) Pinkston, Marlene Patterson and Jackie Ray; three brothers, Christopher Ray, all of Saginaw, MI, Charles Ray, Detroit, MI and George Ray of Montpelier, Vermont; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two aunts; godson, Branden Betts-Jones; mother-in-law, Aline Zeigler; sister-in-law, Nett (Don) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Jessie and Marvin Zeigler, all of Saginaw, MI; the mothers of his children, Carolyn Johnson, Denise Walker, Lorie Dingler and Jessica Moore; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Browne-Betts Family (with whom he had a special relationship), the Williams brothers, the Dawkins Family and Christy Bishop. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his father, James Ray, Sr.; grandson, E’Zaveeon Ray; stepson, Gregory Haynes and brother, James Ray, Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home, Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene and the Browne-Betts Family. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Tittabawassee Road. Pastor Randall Owens, Host Pastor and Pastor James H. Nelson will officiate. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
