Mr. Phillip Cole Jr.

Phillip Cole Jr., Age 87 of Saginaw, Michigan born January 20, 1939, to the union of Vera and Phillip Cole, Sr. in Lambert, Mississippi. Phillip was the oldest son of his 15 siblings, he was lovingly known as, Uncle PC, Pluck, Jr. and the most affection name was, “Petey Wee”. He passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026. He met the love of his life, Savannah Wheeler (Cole) and they were married on September 6, 1958. They decided to start their life and family in Chicago, Illinois and began a bond of family love and pride. Phillip later retired from construction and relocated to Topeka, Kansas in 1999. Together, four children were born to this union which he cherished and was a great influence in their lives. He only provided words of wisdom and made sure that everyone knew he was the head and not the tail. Phillip excepted Christ at an early age. After losing the love of his life Savannah Cole in January of 2020, he made the decision to move to Saginaw, Michigan where his sisters resided. He didn’t have a high school education, but he made certain his children were educated. Finishing high school was a deep desire for him, but family came first. Phillip enjoyed Blues, Jazz and Sunday mornings was gospel music. His favorite holidays were always Thanksgiving and Christmas which should always be shared with family. Left to cherish his memory are his children: daughter, Gracie Dell (Christopher) Lockhart, Cleveland, OH; sons, Norman (Jacqueline) Cole, Sr., Fitchburg, MA and Victor (Deborah) Cole, Sr., Hercules, CA; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The oldest of his siblings are as follows: Mary Alice (Isaiah) Rucker, Rose (Thomas) Simington, Frank (Rosie Pearl) , Bertha Lay, Veria (Earl) Blount, Leola Lockett, Helen Taylor, Jerry W. Cole, Jessie J. Cole, Deborah (Gregory) Howell and Rudy (Quintella) Cole; a host of nieces including special nieces, Towanna, Kristy and Tonsha; nephews, cousins, other family members and friends and special friend, Ms. Leola Smith. Mr. Phillip Cole, Jr. was also preceded in death by Randy L Cole (his youngest son); siblings, Ruby Windham, Ida Drinkwater and Will M Cole. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Mary Allen will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
