Mr. Robert Curry

Mr. Robert “Rocky” Curry was born on August 25, 1950 in Archibald, Louisiana to Edd and Maggie Curry. Robert was the youngest of 13 children. He transitioned age 73 years on October 1, 2023. Robert adhered to what his mother always said, “No matter what you do Rocky, do it well”. In 1969 he graduated from Rayville High School in Louisiana and moved to Saginaw, MI where he later attended trade school at Delta College. He started a path that led him to General Motors where he retired in 2011 after 42 years of service as a Millwright Welder. Robert was a Master Builder in real estate. His passion was turning nothing into something. He enjoyed beautifying his yard and sitting on his porch talking to his neighbors. Robert was a man of depths filled with love and he was passionate about everything he did. His infectious smile and laughter were contagious and appreciated by family and friends. Robert was a devoted family man. His heart swelled with joy as he watched his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and thrive. His grandchildren lovingly called him “PaPa”. Robert was dedicated to the betterment of his community. Robert never forgot a birthday, and he never missed a high school reunion. He loved reconnecting with his childhood friends, dancing and reliving cherished memories. Robert’s greatest love in his life was his wife, Ruth. Robert loved God and he enjoyed going to church with Ruth. He would always tell Ruth, “I’m the Roc! I’m a man and a half”! He took great pleasure in spoiling Ruth and keeping a smile on her face, the two were one. Robert was once told he was “Hen pecked”. He replied, “I love being pecked by that hen”. He had a great sense of humor and he loved Ruth unconditionally. Mr. Robert Curry’s legacy of love determination and will power will be treasured by his loving wife, Ruth Curry; four beautiful children who were the apple of his eye, Kimberly Curry, Dallas, TX, Nichols (Zarinah) Curry, Trophy Club, TX, Robert Curry II and Alex Curry both of Saginaw; grandchildren, Ariana Cochran, Trey McMiller, Aasha Cochran, Nicholas Curry II, Robert Curry III, R.J. and Nia Curry, Mariah McMiller, Kiera and Niles Curry and Kailyn Alexander; great-grandchildren, Jru Carter Strode and Braxton McMiller; bonus children, Rachel Alexander and James Alexander III; siblings, Levada Taylor, Louise Curry, James (Renee) Curry all of Saginaw and Betty (Charles) Naylor, Pontiac, MI; in-laws, Geneva Curry, and Henry Smith both of Saginaw, Al (Jean) Snead, Ypsilanti, MI, Oracene Price, Florida, Hurbert Price, Saginaw, Vickie Price, Lansing, Anthony and Elaine Price both of Saginaw; the mother of his children, Jewery Matthews-Curry; other relatives and friends. He also leaves his go to person, his cousin, Milton (Jackie) Brown also WJ and Edward, they would talk on the phone for hours Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Maggie Curry; siblings, Ed Curry and Simmie (Deloris) Curry, Willie, Earnest and Roosevelt Curry, Rosie (Roosevelt) Jones, Bobby Smith; his bonus son, Louis McMiller. As we honor the life of Robert ‘Rocky” Curry, we are forever grateful for the love, laughter and legacy he has left us. Rest in Peace our dear “Rocky”. Your journey has been extraordinary. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI, 48607. Pastor James Snead will officiate. Interment will take place Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N.
