Ruby Adams

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Road. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Browne's Mortuary, 441 North Jefferson Ave., on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Ruby Jean Adams, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the age of 84 years. She was born on March 15, 1927 in Crawfordville, AR to the late George and Sallie Phillips. She was married to A. B. Adams, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Adams had been employed by the Royal Palm Restaurant, the Hickory Rib Inn and the Napolitano Bakery. She enjoyed being around her family, cooking, baking and taking road trips (to the casino). She had a heart of gold. Her memory will be cherished by her children, JoAnn Thomas of Chicago, IL, Jerome Duff of Crawfordville, AR, Clifford Adams of Saginaw, MI, Anita Brown of Georgia, Jacqueline (Michael) Green of Saginaw, MI, Carol Adams of Georgia, Terry Adams of Saginaw, MI and Jerry Adams of Georgia; 14 grandchildren, Kelly Jones, Michael Green, Marquita Martin, Quentin Brown, Valerie Coates, Avery Rogers, Charmetha Rogers, Lonnie Thomas, Jr., Kenya Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Monteil Green, Gerald Martin, Andrea Lewis and Towanda Lockett; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Thada Bourrage of Cincinnati, OH; brothers-in-law, L. C. (Frankie) Adams of Saginaw, MI, Famous Adams of Indianapolis, IN, Curtis Adams of Cincinnati, OH; and many other relatives and friends, including special friends, Majory Noel, Lillie Harris, Rodell Craft, Mattie Essex, Jean Calhoun, Calvin Green, Juanita Hinton, Dorthy Winfrey and Jackie Singleton. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by two sons, Maurice Adams and Mark Adams, and three brothers, Eddie Lee Rhodes, Earnest Phillips and George Phillips, Jr. The family of Mrs. Ruby Jean Adams extends our sincere appreciation for all the love and support given during this time of bereavement.
