Mrs. Sandra Whitson

Mrs. Sandra Louise Whitson-Whitley was born on March 10, 1953 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Rosie and Nubert Whitson, Jr. Her family moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1965 where she later graduated from Saginaw High School “Class of 1972”. Sandra retired from Meijer Thrifty Acres after 22 years of service. Sandra was a loving and devoted wife, mother and a wonderful grandmother who loved spending quality time with her family. She loved gardening, traveling and shopping. Sandra loved to sit on the porch and enjoy music. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Sheila Whitson; two sons, Ephraim (Amy) and Darwin Whitson; nine grandchildren, Shaela (Preston) Madlock, Shajuana and T’Mesha Whitson, Darwin Wolfe, Shaniya Hemphill, Jaylen and Tyler Whitson, Barae and Alese Epperson; four great-grandchildren, Preston, Jr., Paxton and Symphony Madlock, Darwin Wolfe, Jr.; step-mother, Vicki Whitson; one uncle, Franklin Whitson; one aunt, Earline Whitson; one sister, Teresa Whitson; two brothers, James and Michael Whitson; five sisters-in-law, Mary Joiner, Gloria and Virginia Whitson, Sponcia (Robert) Bates and Gloria Shaw; five brothers-in-law, Willie (Carrie) , Charlie, John, Bobby (Magline) and Lester Whitley; nieces, Sieconda (Tyrone) Babbitt, Rosie, Donielle, Shaleece and Summer Whitson; nephews, TeKorey, Antwane, Donyae (Monique), Brandon (Tosha), Desmond, Luther (Keona), DeVante and Stephan Whitson; two godsons, Anthony Hopkins and Germaine Helton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special cousins, George and Charlene Porter and Darlene Johnson. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Whitley; parents, Rosie and Nubert Whitson, Jr.; one brother, Greggory Whitson; three sisters, Dianne, Deborah and Stephanie Whitson; two nephews, Gregg Mosley and Ernest Hall, Jr. Funeral service 11:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2022, at New Covenant Christian Center, 2395 S. Outer Dr., Saginaw, MI 48601. Bishop Ron Frierson, Host Pastor and Bishop Zachary Williamson will officiate with interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue. Visitation will take place on Thursday at the funeral home from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
