Sheryl D. Green

Mrs. Sheryl Denise Green left this earthly home on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the age of 56 years. She was born October 14, 1957 in Saginaw, MI to Lizzie (Patrick) and Leo S. Echols, Sr. Sheryl graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1975. She started working at St. Mary’s Hospital on May 9, 1977. She married her husband, Marvin Green on December 27, 1981. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1985. Mrs. Green was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Sheryl was a very strong loving and caring person. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, most of all her children. She loved to cook and watch movies. She always helped those in need and would give her last to help others. She always gave support to everyone around her, whether they were friends or family. She had love for everyone she knew and her smile always made the room glow. Sheryl loved joking around and making people laugh. She had a nickname for everyone. Going out to eat, listening to gospel music and helping her mother around the house were things she also enjoyed doing. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Jalisa Burnside, Saginaw, MI; one son, DeArthur Burnside, Saginaw, MI; step-son, Keith Chapman, Indianapolis, IN; special granddaughter, Mariah Atkins “Napkinhead”, Saginaw, MI; mother, Lizzie P. Echols, Saginaw, MI; sister, Peggy Echols, Saginaw, MI; brothers, Leo (Sonya) Echols, Jr., Southfield, MI and Filmon Echols, Saginaw, MI; nieces, Quiana Echols, Ebony (Terry) Randolph, both of Saginaw, MI, Sharonda (Santino) Rios, Hammond, LA, Melissa Echols, Detroit, MI and Tequioa Anderson, Atlanta, GA; nephews, Ronell and Jermaine Echols, both of Saginaw, MI; many great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts, Annie Mae Echols, Saginaw, MI and Doris Echols, Cleveland, OH; uncles, Eddie L. (Dorothy) Patrick and Kenneth M. (Ann) Patrick, both of Saginaw, MI; sisters-in-law, Rosemary (C’Wayne) Mauldin of California, Shirley Bledson, Dallas, TX, Debra (David) King, Detroit, MI and Ruthie Jefferson, Saginaw, MI; brothers-in-law, Harold (Rosemary) Cannon, Dallas, TX and Walter (Kanetha) Green of California; many cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Carla Jordan, Dorthory Smith, Brenda Reynolds, Sandra Chaffer, Jenise Lewis, Claudine Grays, Arthur Burnside, Jr. (father of her children), Yolanda Seay, Pamela Brooks, Aaron McKissick, Dawn Howard, Jewel Waters, Lisa Patrick and her St. Mary’s Hospital co-workers. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her father, Leo S. Echols, Sr.; husband, Marvin Green; great nephew, Jordan Echols; and many uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to, Dr. Jacob Ninan, VNA Hospice, Karmonos Cancer Center and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 535 Cathay Street, with the memorial service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
