Stanley Phillips

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church, 2104 Sheridan Ave. Pastor Nefronzie Pierson, Sr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Stanley B. Phillips departed this life on Friday, October 8, 2008 at Claremont Nursing Home in Carlisle, PA. His loving and devoted wife Vivian stayed by his side until his journey home with the Lord was completed. He was saved and accepted Christ, October 30, 2004. Mr. Stanley was a member of the U.S. Army from 1974 and was honorably discharged in 1977. He served in the Vietnam War as a Cannon Crewman where he received a Vietnam Era Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon. Later in life, Stanley completed training and became an Armed Security Officer for the US Army War College in Carlisle until he became ill and went to work for US Security LLC of Carlisle. Stan, as many called him was a very smart, loving, and friendly person who was loved by many. He was a very neat and extremely clean person. He had a love first for family along with art, museums, horror movies, jazz, telling jokes, his starched jeans, black dress shoes, cologne, clean hair cuts, super clean car, and last but not least, barbequing with his special sauce. His one desire in life was to be a good father to his children. Stan will be sadly missed but always remembered. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Vivian T. Phillips; five children, Sharri (Gervoni) and Stanganita Phillips both of Houston, TX, Omar Phillips of Layton, OK, Christon and Cardie Phillips of Carlisle, PA; two stepchildren, he cherished as his own David Marshall-Glenn and Da'Nequa Glenn-Boxwell of Carlisle, PA; five brothers, Darrell, Dennis and Duane Phillips, all of Saginaw, MI, Tony and Ezra "Bobby" Henry Jr.; one sister, Vickie Officer, all of Detroit, MI; mother-in-law, Vivian L. Glenn of Carlisle, PA; three brothers-in-law, Bernard C. Glenn and Melvin B. Glenn (Kimberly) of Carlisle, PA, Kenneth D. Glenn of Pontiac, MI; four sisters-in-law, Brucis M. Carter of Norristown, PA, Vernetta A. Cleary of Bowling Green, KY, Katherine L. Davey of Pontiac, MI, and Carolyn A. Glenn (Bob) of Hawthorne, FL; a very special friend, Lenette Barnette (like a sister). Stan was preceded in death by his dear beautiful mother, Mrs. Emma Phillips; father, Ezra Henry; sister, Debra Phillips; two brothers, Carl Phillips and Milton Henry; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Pierson-Phillips and Cynthia Glenn; a nephew, Samuel Lawrence, niece Whitney Jakcson; an aunt Melva Jean Smith; grandparents, Willie Mae Woods, Lloyd Meeks and father-in-law, Bonnie L. Glenn.
