Mr. Steven Keith Drake

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and family man on March 6, 2026 at the age of 69 years. Steven Keith Drake passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was born July 21, 1956 in Saginaw, MI to loving parents Theordore and Audrey (Poindexter) Drake. He was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1975. Shortly after graduation, he began his career with General Motors in 1975 where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2002. He was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. “Steve” loved spending time with his grandchildren, being surrounded by family and friends at gatherings and family functions, and just enjoying the people he loved most. He took pride in washing his cars, keeping his grass cut just right, barbecuing for family and friends, attending car shows, being a helpful neighbor and fixing bikes for the children in the neighborhood. Above all, he was a devoted family man whose presence brought comfort, strength and love to those around him. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for family and the special way he made ordinary moments feel important. His memory will live in the hearts of two daughters and one son, Crystal Drake, Saginaw, Lynea (Anthony) Lamptey, Marshall, TX and Quincy (Mercedez) Drake, Dayton, OH; six grandchildren, Quierra Drake, Cincinnati, OH, Meleigha Lamptey, Marshall, TX, Deleion and Delano Smith, both of Saginaw, Dawn and Adrienne Drake, both of Dayton, OH; two great-grandchildren, Jayceon Lamptey and Devonte Megee, both of Marshall, TX; two sisters, Debra Drake (Shurly) Brown, Pontiac, MI and Lisa Kolka; two brothers, Kerry (Beverly) Drake and Philip Drake, both Saginaw; three aunts, Mary-Sue Gardner, Jeffersonville, IN, Estelle Goins, Greenville, KY and Doris Brooks, LongBeach, CA; uncles, Edmond (Anna) Drake, Louisville, KY, John Drake, Atlanta, GA; four nieces; two nephews; a host of cousins; significant other of 25 years, Gwendolyn Nellums, Saginaw; other relatives including special cousins, Cynthia Taylor-Stallard, Regina Davison and Gary Poindexter all of Louisville, KY and special friends, Charles Burns, Terri Adams, and Albert Johnson. Mr. Steven Drake was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore (Audrey) Drake; grandparents, Albert (Doris) Poindexter, Theodore Drake, Sr. and Jonetta Drake; many aunts, uncles, brother-in-law, Ronald Kolka and special cousin, Arie Hogan. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Min. Marilyn Strickland will officate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
