Mr. Tommie Sullivan

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother Tommie Lee Sullivan went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the age of 75 years. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 6, 1940 the son of William Sullivan and Willie B. (Sullivan) Bester. Tommie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was employed by General Motors and retired after 39 years of service. Tommie was a member of the UAW Local 668. He married Sylvester (Becky) Loggins in 1964. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1965. To this union two children were born. He was a member of the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. In his youth he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Tommie enjoyed watching sports especially basketball and football. One of his favorite past times was watching Westerns. Tommie loved spending time with his family and friends always encouraging young people to do their best no matter how “long” it took for him to tell you. He was known by a couple of nicknames, “Timbo” and “Little Tommie”, and he had some catch-phrases to describe himself including: “I’m the greatest”, “Before me there was no, after me there will be no more” and “I’m the Kid”. Mr. Tommie Lee Sullivan leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 51 years, Sylvester (Becky) Sullivan; two daughters, Janet (Michael) Morris and Paulette (Walter, Sr.) McCall, all of Saginaw, MI; five grandchildren, Quintoia Wyatt, Ja’Michael Morris, Marsia, Joseph III and Walter II McCall, all of Saginaw, MI; two special cousins that he helped raise like sons, DeWayne Crowell of Columbia, SC and Christopher Crowell of Huntsville, AL; three brothers, Isaiah Sr. (Louella) Sullivan, Larry (Loretta) Bester and Perry Bester, all of Tuscaloosa, AL; four sisters, Martha Martin, Johnnie M. (Jimmy) Edwards, both of Long Beach, CA, Bessie M. Love of Flint, MI and Dorothy Reeves of Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers-in-law, William (Lillie) Loggins of Tuscaloosa, AL and Lugene Loggins, Sr. of Saginaw, MI; sister-in-law, Litha R. Steele, Tuscaloosa, AL; two aunts, Sarah Delaney of St. Louis, MO and Rebecca (William) Winton of Huntsville, AL; special niece, Pamela Little Brooks of Saginaw, MI; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends of 47 years Herbert Thompson and Doris (Granny) Thompson, both of Saginaw, MI. Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents, William Sullivan and Willie B. Bester; step-father, Johnnie Bester; four brothers, Early, Sr., Jake, Jesse, Sr. Sullivan and Willie J. Bester; sister, Annie Pearl Howard; step-sister, Mary Morrison; parents-in-law, Dock and Martha Loggins and great-granddaughter, Joe’l MiAngel McCall. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 2233 King Road with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Walter McCall will officiate with interment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
