Mr. Trent Juan Conway

Trent ran his last race and crossed the finish line into the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the age of 55 years. Trent Juan Conway was born June 4, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was the sixth child born to Lee Dell and Rosa Lee Conway. Trent developed a relationship with Christ at a young age. Prior to leaving Saginaw, he was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was a graduate of Buena Vista High School “Class of 1979”. While in school, Trent excelled academically and was a star athlete in basketball, football and track. He was featured in the Saginaw News with his hands raised in the air as he crossed the finish line winning first place in the 440 Relay. After high school, Trent attended Grambling State University, Grambling, Louisiana before joining the United States Army and after his tour of duty in Germany he received an Honorable Discharge in 1985. Trent also had a passion for music and a beautiful singing voice. While attending Ricker Jr. High, he named his first singing group, “The Passions” which included Nathaniel Calhoun and Rosalyn Self, they won first place in several talent shows. Trent was in several other singing groups over the years with Eddie Hunt, Leroy Houston, Lonnie Woods, Steve Canty, Jeanette Mack and Dewayne Crowell also winning first place in many talent shows. In 1995, Trent married Sandra Dillard. They were inspired to relocate in 2006 with their four children to Houston, Texas in search of a better life for their family. He gained employment with Comcast as a Customer Support Specialist. Trent excelled in everything he aspired to do professionally and was often recognized for his hard work and dedication. He treated his co-workers and customers with love and respect whereas he received numerous commendations for providing outstanding customer service. Mr. Conway was smart, intellectual, witty, compassionate, loyal, kind, courageous, proud, handsome, sincere, articulate, smooth, mellow, devoted and genuine. He was an avid reader with a curious nature and wasn’t afraid to ask questions and voice his opinion. You could always count on stimulating conversation with Trent. He often spoke of his desire of being a college professor. Even though Trent’s desire was not realized in a traditional sense, it was realized daily as many joined the virtual classrooms of Trent Conway and the Mello Spot via Facebook. Trent’s post were thought provoking, controversial and challenging as politics being one of his favorites. He was one of the few people you could count on to truly analyze situations. Trent was a brilliant man and the love and kindness he shared through Facebook will continue to influence others for the rest of their lives. Trent leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Stacey Moore and Edward Craige Conway both of Saginaw, MI, Briana Huntley-Oates (James), Prattville, AL, William Harris and Kenneth Dillard both of Saginaw MI; parents, Lee Dell and Rosa Lee Conway, Saginaw, MI; grandmother, Robbie VanTurner, New York, NY; two brothers, Larry (Gwenda) Conway, Saginaw, MI and Joshua Conway, Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Leah Ann O’Daniels, Houston, TX, Vivian (Howard) Rankins, Saginaw, MI and Gigi Simmons, Bolingbrook, IL.; six nieces Stacey (Fred) Pritchett, Columbia, SC, Deidra Conway, Charlotte, NC, Tamar (Aaron) Chipp, Nashville, TN, Dr. Gigi JaNea’ Simmons, Bolingbrook, IL, Alexis Rankins and Leah L. O’Daniels both of Pearland, TX.; four nephews, Deon Conway, Sr., Saginaw, MI, Luther Melvin O’Daniels, Jr. and Tobaris Doss both of Las Vegas, NV and Craige (Lella) O’Daniels, Houston TX; two aunts, Jettie Broussard, Englewood, CA and Bennie Chapman, Sugarland, TX; two god-daughters, Chell Crowell, Detroit, MI and Makayla Garrison, Houston, TX; former wife Sandra Dillard and a host of great & great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Clifford Murray, Roderick Jackson, Eddie Hunt, DeWayne Crowell, Dewrail Rockett, Rod Wettlin and his Facebook family. Trent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ida Mae and William Chapman, Edward VanTurner, and Curtis Conway; brother, Edward Craige Conway; aunts, Emma Gossett, Deliath Chapman, Archie Williams and Ruby Kirk; uncles, Eddie Chapman and James Holston; brothers-n-law, Luther Melvin O’Daniels, Sr. and Bruce E. Simmons. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Wolverine State Baptist Headquarters, 615 South Jefferson Avenue. Pastor Kareem Bowens. will officiate with interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be having a family hour from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
