Mr. William Gable Jones

William Gable Jones, my loving devoted husband passed away Tuesday December 8, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 78 years. William was born on August 08, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan to John C. and Mary Ressie Jones. After graduating from Saginaw High School in 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force serving four years After being honorably discharged from active duty in the military December 1965, he resided in Portland, Oregon for many years. While there he attended Portland Community College earning an Associate of Science Degree in 1973. Upon returning to his home town, he began employment for the City of Saginaw working various jobs and then became a foreman in the Streets Department. He was a member of SEIU Local 517M at one time serving as Hourly Vice President. William Retired from the City of Saginaw, in 2009. William was a faithful member of New Life Baptist Church working in various ministries until his health declined. He loved working in security and Mission in the City Driver, the Church Van Ministry and years ago sang in the men’s choir. William leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy Presley Jones; two brothers, Hall B (Beverly) Jones and Raymond F (Ann) Jones; two loving step daughters, Pamela D. Gissendanner and Kenyea Jones Zimmermann; a precious grandson whom he adored, Presley B, Jones; one niece, Raeann Jones (Randy) Keller; two brothers- in-law, Samuel E. Presley and Raymond (Lynn) Presley, both of Saginaw, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Hattye M. Tharpe, Memphis Tennessee, Shirley (James) York, Saginaw, MI; special niece and nephew he lovingly called “The Twins”, Jada and Jaden Lee, Saginaw, MI, one aunt remaining from a large Hall Family, Delia Smith, Bowie, Maryland, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as special church friends, Windle Bradley, and Ivory Stanton. William was preceded in death by his parents, John Casey and Mary Ressie Jones; one sister, Delia Sylvia Jones, and one great-nephew, Christian J McCants. The family sends special thanks to the ICU doctors, nurses and staff at Ascension St Mary’s Hospital and Health Source Great Memory Care and Staff. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. A private service will be held with Dr. Craig Tatum officiating. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford, Holly, Michigan 48442.
