Mr. William Cal Reed

Our beloved Mr. William Cal Reed, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2023 at the age of 71 years. He was born October 10, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of the late Cal Reed, Sr. and Laura Reed. After William graduated from high school, he later joined the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He retired from the United States Postal Service, relocated to Saginaw, MI and became a longtime member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. He had a zeal for learning. After obtaining his Associates Degree from Delta College, he then attended Saginaw Valley State University earning his Bachelor’s Degree. He will always be remembered for his robust laugh, his phenomenal story telling ability and his unique style of dress. Always the life of any celebration. William enjoyed reading. Some of his favorite past times included, playing spades and dominos with friends and family. William leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Terry (Valarie) Reed, Saginaw and Daryl (Stacey) Reed of Martin, TN; four bonus kids, Fredrick (Tequila) Alexander, Rose (Lance) Howard, Steve (Margaret) Whitson and Larry Walker, Jr.; special companion, Evelyn Roby; 16 grandkids; 23 great-grandkids; his siblings, LaVerne Coleman, Doreen Martin, Katie Kindred, Lenora (Herbert) Gibson, Ronald (Debra) Reed, Donald (Carolyn) Reed, David Reed, Willie (Doris) Reed of Carson, CA; one god-brother/adopted brother, Michael Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends, including Ralph (Lynette) Ford; special cousins, John (Lydia) Bond, Ernie (the late Paris) Brumfield and Joe (Jackie) Jacocks. Mr. William Cal Reed was also preceded in death by one sister, Eva Weston; grandparents, Lady Bird and Frank Harper, Sr.; nephew, Daniel Jones; close cousin, Terry Sangster; special friend, Garcie Alexander. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. .Family Hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 N. 6th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor, Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442..
