Willie J. Jackson

Mr. Willie J. Jackson, age 76, went to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 4, 2015 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw after a year-long battle against cancer. He was born on September 28, 1938 in Tyler, TX. Willie was the youngest of nine children from the union of Oscar Jackson, Sr. and Mary E. Albright Jackson. He graduated from Emmitt Scott High School “We’re a Great Class; We’re a Great School in 1959.” In 1965, he moved to Saginaw, MI with his wife, Mary Lois Boyd-Jackson, and two children, Morgann’ and Karl. Twins, Michael and Michelle, were born in 1968. He worked at Baker Perkins until his retirement in 1983. He was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church. Willie leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Mary; two daughters, Morgann’ Jackson Robinson (Lewis), Houston, TX and Michelle Jackson, Saginaw, MI; two sons, Karl Jackson, Okemos, MI and Michael Jackson, San Francisco, CA; grandsons, Kourtlandt Akins, Houston, TX and Joshua McGee; granddaughters, LaKendra Gilbert and Teairra Robinson; godsons, Rodney Murphy, Grand Rapids, MI and Johnathon Smith, Bowling Green, OH; goddaughter, Tiffany Mounger-Hall special daughters, Chirila Hamilton (Cory) and Ouida McGee (Willie) and Margarette Johnson; and special son, Ralph Douglas (Renee). He is further survived by one sister, Captoria Johnson and a sister-in-law, Crealia Jackson, both of Tyler, TX; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Antonio Black; three brothers, Lawrence Keith Walker, Oscar Jackson, Jr., and Columbus Warren Jackson; and four sisters, Ethel Williams, Juanita McKenzie, Etta Nell Jordan and Mary D. Brown. Willie will be remembered for his love for his family, a passion for collecting and repairing vintage vehicles, watching sports and western television shows. He definitely believed in telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help him God! Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at People's Missionary Baptist Church, 2908 Bellwood Road in Tyler, TX. Pastor Marcus J. Jackson will officiate with interment in Larissa Cemetery in Bullard, TX. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bethel AME Church Scholarship Fund, c/o Rev.
