Mr. Xavion Demontae Hopkins

Surrounded by family and loved ones, Xavion transitioned to eternity on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Ascension St. Mary’s Intensive Care Unit in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 30 years. Mr. Xavion Demontae Hopkins was born on January 8, 1994 in Saginaw, Michigan to Stanganita Phillips and Xavier Hopkins. As a child, Xavion was bright, charismatic, and loving. He had a huge personality and could brighten any room with his smile and dimples. His family and close friends loved being around him. He will be remembered for providing them with love and unlimited laughs. Xavion received his diploma from Bridgeport High School in 2012. During his high school career, he was highly active as a well-rounded athlete playing basketball and football as he built friendships and bonds that are still close today. After high school, he entered the workforce, hitting the ground running. Xavion was a hard worker and gave his all in anything he did. He was most recently employed at Nexteer Automotive and a member of the UAW Local 699 Union. Wherever Xavion went, he was the life of the party. When he walked into a room, he was sure to fill it with joy. Without a doubt, if you were blessed with the chance to spend time with Xavion, it was guaranteed that you would laugh, sing, dance, and feel love. He always wanted everyone to have a good time when he came around. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing video games online with them as well. Xavion lived life to the fullest in his time with us. He would always ensure his loved ones knew that they were loved in his presence. Xavion leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Stanganita Phillips and Xavier (Jalynn) Hopkins; siblings, O’deleyah (Eli) Israel, Shamia (Neamiah) Israel, Izayah Whittington, Mya Hopkins; grandparents, Charles (Patricia) McMillan, Jr., Bennie Jones, PastorLafayette Simpson and Sharalee Jones Hammond; aunts, Sharri Phillips and Amanda Hopkins; uncle, Ronald Hopkins; great aunts and uncles, Sharon Hopkins, Paulette Lowery, Linda (Billy) Thomas, Darren Hopkins, Clyde (Luella) Hopkins, Benjamin (Sherlene) Hopkins; nieces, Nazaiyah, Naleia and Nola; nephew, Esaias; a host of cousins, including special cousins, Shanae Moore, Styles (Angel) Hopkins, Ka’Ron (Lakkia) Cooper, Sharnice (Ger’Quia) Abner, Shan’Toriana Harris, Javonte Buckley, Shy’Angel Phillips, Eonce Melville, and a host of friends including special friends, Deon (Lauren) Duncan, and Julian Canales. Xavion Demontae Hopkins was preceded in death by grandparents, Albertina Hairston-Jones and 1st Lady Janice Simpson (Hopkins); uncles, Demontae Hairston and Omarr Phillips; a cousin, Nyles Hopkins. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3610 Russell St., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Lafayette Simpson will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw. MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
